The VMAs are back for 2021! The perennial "End of Summer" awards show returns on MTV tonight to feature the best in music videos and entertainment from the year that was with performances and presentations from the biggest names in pop including the likes of Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Tinashe, Doja Cat, Saweetie and many more. The MTV Video Music Awards show kicks off on Sunday, September 12, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET from the Barclays Center with a live TV broadcast on MTV.

With the popularity of the annual show, it will also will air live tonight on the following channels including CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1 and The CW.

The nominees have been chosen by MTV, but are voted on by viewers and you still have time to vote if you haven't already! Nominees include some of the currently most popular artists. Names such as: Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Saweetie, Billie Eilish, Normani, Camilla Cabello, BTS, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Lil Nas X and Dua Lipa — to name just a few.

Kacey Musgraves will make her VMAs debut as a performer at this year's ceremony and Justin Bieber, who has not performed on the VMA stage for six years, will return. Fans will also be thrilled with additional performers like Shawn Mendes, Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker, Twenty One Pilots and more.
